What kind of association could arise for an ordinary man when considering Brazil? Well, worldwide famous carnivals have origins from this country. Also, one should know that Brazilians use the Portuguese language, which is not typical of the remaining area of South America. Eventually, heat for World Cup where team of Brazil is forecasted to winning for 6th time reminds famous “Maracana“…

Review: REVIOLENCE “Modern Beast" – modern beasts bubble hot tarHowever, extraordinary persons possessed by heavy affairs should be all ears: is it something new in metal stage of country where SEPULTURA and a number of other bands have been born? Yes yes, the four of REVIOLENCE remind about themselves, this time due to release of full-length album “Modern Beast“. The release seemed like to be “cursed” as it reached Lithuania only when was sent twice. Fortunately, the album was put to my record-player at last and I’m far away from feeling that Brazil is a country of football and carnivals. So…

Quiet intro looks like calm before the storm. That is. Thrash metallers whack mightily starting already from the next piece. Sounding of “Trail Of Tears“ gives not any ideas about well-known group carrying this name. But one must find young guitar player Guilherme to be real discovery under sky of metal music! Guitar solos are perfect almost in all tracks if not to tell even more. I guess Chuck Schuldiner (RIP) most probably would be proud to see such musician in the line-up of death metal legend (that is because one can hear certain tunes of REVIOLENCE sound to be similar to DEATH).

Dynamic thrash anger and improved technique run from each next track. Let’s pay attention to title composition where memorable guitar riffs, strong vocals and perfect rhythm section are in harmony. “The Metal Church“ amazes by surprise with power/heavy voice and with twisting sound that turns from lyrical tunes to even aggressive motifs. Again, one can keep in mind old band with the same name and this moment you should find certain parallels in music of both teams.

“Virtual Hero“ is one of more fun and fast pieces in the album that is created in veins of pure thrash metal and distinguishes with exclusive guitar solos again. Next, “Zero Of Me“ is one of most interesting tracks showing up brightness of Rods’ vocals and… yes, good job of guitar player as well.

You cannot blame following four compositions particularly “The Annunciation“ that sounds mightily, like savage and decisively. And Guilhermes’ solos must be noted again, this guy has great future without any doubt.

That is period when “Modern Beast” penetrated my ears several times. And I could tell there is an example of album where all compositions are in accordant completeness. Attempt of REVIOLENCE to play in veins of old thrash metal style rates regard although it is hard to search for originality in genre that exists for many years and undoubtedly has coryphaeus which should not be ready to give up their positions. Just pay attention to “Modern beast“!
