Biography:
The band WOZU came together in 2005. They describe their own distinctive playing style as “alternative metal” – an alternative to heavy music in Lithuania. The main ideology of WOZU is to play from the heart and not to make music in any artificial way. During quite a short time the band stood out among other non-commercial bands and earned a third place in “Broadway Star 2005” contest, entered the finals in “Fresh Blood 2006” and became the second winner of “Eurorock 2006”.
The band has also played in “Fiesta Borealis 2006” (Poland), “Ferrum Rust 2006”, did many gigs in Vilnius and other Lithuanian cities. In 2007 WOZU recorded three demo songs. They were also nominated as the best 2006 metal band in Lithuanian alternative music awards “A.LT”.
The band started in 2001, when a group of friends began to play a kind of punk rock and metal synthesis. Later they split up because they did not achieve any success. In spring of 2005 the bass guitarist Martynas Garbaèas and drummer Þilvinas Ivanovas decided to renew their musical activity so they invited the guitarist and singer Liudas Èereðkevièius. It seems that WOZU is reborn again. With their new repertoire, they participate in many competitions and festivals in Vilnius and other Lithuanian cities, where they are always noticed. Every time the guys round up bigger and bigger number of fans.
After a year and a half WOZU decided to accept another guitarist - Mindaugas Bitë. He brought even more creative freedom to the band, making it more powerful than ever before. In 2007 WOZU won “EuroRock 2007” in Vilnius.
